1. Sherlock
Holmes : Aggressive, vindictive, arrogant but lacks sense of purpose &
direction. Very much whimsical. Does not share information, silent type.
2. Kiriti Roy : Slippery, cunning,
deceptive and knows only how to postpone & delay things without being
questioned. But from his facial expression it appears that he does not even
have the knowledge of which side of a fried fish is to be turned up and eaten !
3. Byomkesh Bakshi : Knows very well about
the ways & means to arrange numerous visits to one particular location of
his choice. Lacks clarity and expertise and does not contribute to anything
constructive. A great shirker of duties when it comes to deliver &
therefore cannot be relied upon for any time-bound job.
4. Hercule Poirot : Behaves initially like
a fish out of water, but once allowed to settle and groomed, he is like Sunil
Gavaskar !! He can be dead-sharp, willing to walk that extra mile and has
amazing strength of character.
5. Prodosh K Mitter : Popularly known as
FELU-DA… he is the ‘Mr. Dependable’ and very good at cracking mysteries ! He is
the most loyal servant of His Grace (!) and is willing to share maximum
responsibility without expecting any big reward. He keeps in contact with even
the worst enemy (of the Govt.) and always wear a smiling face which makes the
job of information collection easier.
His close co-ordination with the supreme authorities notwithstanding,
the equation between him and Sherlock is absolutely cool. He has a very frugal
way of living and virtually manages his family affairs through remote control.
6. Ms. Jane Marple : Basically an innocent
& not-so-matured character but is gradually turning out to be a lethal
weapon in the shining armor of Sherlock ! Maintains old history of criminals
and their files very meticulously & methodically. Sometimes she has to
enact the role of ‘Topshe’ as well
which she does with maximum perfection. Very dependable for any job which calls
for creativity.
7. John H
Watson : A good investor & a rich man who spends maximum time at the
library as he does not have his wife waiting at home for settling old disputes
! An excellent team member and provides rock-solid support to Sherlock.
Maintains absolute confidentiality which has made him indispensible for the
Govt. He is otherwise a noble and friendly soul who loves to play cards and
listen to pop music.
8. Ajit Bandyopadhyay: Practically has all
the idle time in the world at his disposal as Byomkesh has recently become very
secretive about his covert operations. He therefore, feels abandoned as Byomkesh never divulges any details about his Solo sorties !! Writing novels also has
taken a backseat because of abundance of Kindle & other E-book readers
flooding the market. He keeps on cursing the entire world particularly Byomkesh
for his misfortune & lonely life and considered ‘Good for nothing’ &
neglected by people at large.
9. Puntiram
: Faithful like his predecessor Patiram (who was a gossip monger and a
virtual chatterbox) but not as half-agile ! Does his duty but never moves an
extra inch beyond his allocated duty in the kitchen and housekeeping. Observes
people closely but reserves his opinion about others. Very particular about
matters of money and never talks anything loose even to his close circle
outside the house.
